Friday, June 2 Country Night
May 29-30, 2015 marked the 6th Annual Motors & Music show at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wi. Each year the promoters of Motors & Music, Miad llc., experience a gain in crowd and car/bike show participation. This year’s event was no different, featuring over 175 cars and bikes in Saturday’s show and over 1,700 music fans in the beer tent over the weekend event. Miad llc. promotes the event to help raise funds for The Drew and Conner Fritz Foundation. The foundation was started after one of the promoter’s of the show lost is brother in a boating accident. The foundation's goal is to help children and families in need in the SunPrairie/De Forest area.
Friday night, The Love Monkeys started off the event with a great performance. The Love Monkeys have been at Motors & Music four years in a row and this year was their best. With close to 500 people in the beer tent, the Love Monkeys played hit after hit and keep thecrowd moving all night.
Saturday, the car and motorcycle show started at 9 am and with perfect weather as the backdrop for the day the car show saw over 175 cars and bikes. The show had newer vehicles/bikes and lots of classic cars and trucks and even a couple of tractors. The spectator’s choice awards went to the crowd’s favorites. A Ford Ranchero and custom painted Harley took this year’s spectator’s votes. A tradition at the Motors & Music shows is to have Drew and Conner pick their favorite vehicles as well.
Saturday afternoon the beer tent went into high gear with Wausau’s very own - Southbound. Southbound played southern rock and country favorites to the biggest afternoon crowd Motors & Music has seen to date.
Saturday night the local powerhouse Madison County hit the stage. With their stage presence and huge fan base Madison County packed the Motors and Music beer tent. Madison County played new and older country to a crowd of over 1,200 that sang and danced the night away.
Miad llc was founded by Harley Ringhand, Bill Fritz and Paul Esse in 2009 with one goal in mind–to have one of the area’s best beer tents with live music and a car show. With the varied background of the founders and years of event experience, the idea of Motors & Music was born. Once the idea for the event was up and running the location was secured. Angell Park Speedway is a perfect location for the show–it has a great beer tent, lots of room for expansion and it is a super place for a car show. One of the other benefits of the show is that it has become a vehicle (sorry for the pun) for starting and funding the Drew and Conner Fritz Foundation (DCFF). The DCFF was started after Bill lost his brother David in a boating accident. The tragic accident took David’s life but his wife and twin boys survived. The promoters of Motors & Music wanted to come up with a way to be able to help Drew and Conner with their educational needs as they get older–it was this goal that sparked the idea for the foundation. Bill, Harley and Paul are proud that they are able to raise money for the DCFF and for others in need in the Sun Prairie/Deforest area. The tire logo for Miad llc represents friendships, family and the circle of life. Can you figure out what Miad stands for? Ask one of the guys at this year’s show–they’ll tell ya.
